On February 22, 2018 the 2nd endoscopy Teleconference with Japan and Russia was organized by Telemedicine Development Center in Asia (TemDec). National Center of Cardiology and Internal Medicine n.a. M. Mirrahimov, Yaroslavl Regional Cancer Hospital and Vladivostok Regional Clinical Hospital participated at videoconference. Video conference conducted using high-speed Central Asian Research and Education Network (CAREN) with support of CAREN Cooperation Center (CAREN CC).
Central Asia is high risk area for gastric cancer. Early detection of gastric cancer by endoscopy is only way to improve its mortality. However, clinical situation including endoscopic field is quite different among institutes in the region. During the videoconference medical doctors shared the knowledge and considered particular cases. Dr. Mamiraim Dzhumabaev, endoscopist from National Center of Cardiology and Internal Medicine n.a. M. Mirrahimov, Kyrgyz Republic, reported an endoscopic training in Kyushu University Hospital. He has one-month internship at Kyushu University Hospital by the invitation of Prof. Shimizu.
Reference: In April 2017, by the invitation of Prof. A.Kutanov, Regional Coordinator of EC CAREN project, Prof. Shimizu, Director of TemDec, participated at 2nd CAREN Regional Networking Conference in telemedicine session. After visit to hospitals in Bishkek connected to Kyrgyz Research and Education Network (KRENA) Prof. Shimizu invited Dr. Mamiraim Dzhumabaev, endoscopist and Aleksei Semenov, network administrator of NCCIM to attend telemedicine session and technical training of APAN44 meeting. This was a good start of collaboration on early gastric cancer detection which we hope will further strength cooperation in development of telemedicine in CAREN network.
